Rockin'

Years ago, singing my baby to sleep in his room, I would often end up in the same key as the electrical hum in the background. This song is a lullaby featuring a baby's room soundscape, complete with humidifier drone and baby toys.

My favorite projects have always involved setting text by other writers. Since my son's birth I've read more parenting blogs, so I contacted a few bloggers asking permission to set a poem or post to music.

Rockin'

Don't knock my door
don't ring my phone
I'm rockin' my baby
'fore my baby is grown.

Don't bring the news,
I just wanna muse
Don't bring the news,
I just wanna muse
on Baby's amazing, gazing blues.

Say, Old Mr. Clock,
can you float me a loan?
I need more time -
All I had is flown.

Don't knock my door,
don't ring my phone
I'm rockin' my baby
'fore my baby is grown.
